Engaging Stakeholders Through Facebook for Teacher Professional Development in Indonesia

This paper discusses the implementation of social media, i.e. Facebook during the design and development of an online learning community for teacher professional development in Indonesia. The study employed Design Research where intensive interaction with stakeholders played a key role in design decisions.

During the third intervention, Facebook was employed as the main design artifact to engage stakeholders in reflective action and critical reflection. The implementation of Facebook was contextualised to the socio-cultural settings of Indonesia. This paper reports several findings related to stakeholder participation in this study, i.e. online membership and online interaction.
